Mother Ethiopia

This Painting was made by Gebre Selassie Adil(Aleka) in 1960. Oil on Canvas, 104 x 118 cm Addis Ababa fine Arts School. According to Debre Hayq Ethiopian Art Gallery as in all aspects of Ethiopian life, nationalism and partiotism played a prominent role in the development of secular art in the country. Following the Italian invasion in 1935, Ethiopian artists focused on issues that are still important today: The country's prestige, well being, and notional unity.

In my opinion this painting has many massage of Ethiopian people. Let me tell you about Mother Ethiopian painting what i am thinking. As you see the mother between the children's is Ethiopia , the children's around their mother is Ethiopian ethnic groups by the way Ethiopia has more than 80 ethnic groups, and mother care two child are they represent religion's in Ethiopia which is Christianity and Islam.
